Eastern Ohio Correction Center
Getting Started for Families
Below is general information for family members to know to assist with transitioning their family member to EOCC and help them feel better about their placement.
Visitation:
- Visitation is conducted on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- 2 adult visitors are permitted to visit at a time (does not include children)
- Each Resident is permitted one visitation session per Visitation day
- Visitation sessions are 30 minutes in length
- All visitors must be pre-approved by the Treatment Team and Probation/Parole Officers will be consulted.
- All visitors must be on the approved visitor list before their first visit.
- All visitors must have a proper photo ID.
- The same person cannot visit two times in one day, and the same person cannot visit two different Residents (unless established as an immediate family member of both).
- Everyone entering the building for a visit is subject to a search and must pass through the metal detector.
- All purses, coats, bags, cell phones, etc., must be locked in your car before entering the visitation area.
- Cash, checks, and money orders will not be accepted at any time. Visitors wishing to put money on a Resident’s books may place cash in the kiosk in the lobby of the building at any time. They may deposit money online and at the kiosks at the Guernsey County Jail, Columbiana County, and Belmont County Jails.
- Checks and money orders will only be accepted through the mail.
- Visitors must be appropriately attired to enter the facility.
- Visitors must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Any violation of the above could result in the termination of the visit and denial of subsequent visits.
Extended Family Visitation:
EOCC realizes that some travel far to visit and support their loved ones. To help mitigate this issue, Residents can request an extended visit of one (1) hour every 30 days if the following conditions are met:
- Visitors travel for more than one hour to visit.
- The Visitor has documented work hours prohibiting consistent visits during regular hours.
- Transportation issues.
